Code, Local Government § 25–502","heading":"","body":"(a) On receipt of a copy of a watershed work plan from the county\ncommissioners, county council, or Mayor and City Council of Baltimore City, a board\nof viewers:\n(1) (i) shall engage the services of private engineers; or\n(ii) may use the services of planners and engineers of local,\nState, and federal units of government;\n(2) enter and view, with the individuals described in item (1) of this\nsubsection, the land described in the watershed work plan and the proposed\nwatershed project as laid out on the ground; and\n(3) make careful and thorough examination of the area to determine\nthe benefits and damages that would result from the proposed watershed project to\nthe land in the area affected by the watershed association.\n(b) A board of viewers shall consider as damages, without regard to any\nbenefit that would result from the proposed watershed project:\n(1) the value of land taken for construction of the proposed watershed\nproject;\n(2) inconvenience imposed by the construction of the proposed\nwatershed project; and\n(3) other lawfully compensable damages.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=25-502","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"cc95f229673ac335ade25c239474d2a351bde7771b0b9f69e8c26921a3dd191f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-25-501","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-25-503"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
