Code, Local Government § 25–901","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) A majority of the landowners or the owners of a majority of the\nland affected by a watershed association may submit a petition to dissolve the\nwatershed association to the county commissioners, county council, or Mayor and\nCity Council of Baltimore City in which the watershed association was organized.\n(2) A complete list of the creditors of the watershed association\ncertified under oath by the board of directors shall accompany the petition.\n(b) On receipt of a petition under subsection (a) of this section, the county\ncommissioners, county council, or Mayor and City Council of Baltimore City shall:\n(1) set a date for a public hearing on the petition; and\n(2) give notice of the time, place, and purpose of the hearing at least\n30 days before the hearing by:\n(i) notice mailed to each creditor of the watershed association\nand each landowner; and\n(ii) publication in a newspaper of general circulation in each\ncounty affected by the watershed association.\n(c) (1) The county commissioners, county council, or Mayor and City\nCouncil of Baltimore City may deny or approve a petition for dissolution after a public\nhearing under this section.\n(2) On approval of a petition for dissolution, the county\ncommissioners, county council, or Mayor and City Council of Baltimore City shall give\nnotice of the dissolution in the same manner as required under subsection (b) of this\nsection.\n(d) After payment of all debts, any balance in the county treasury to the\ncredit of the dissolved watershed association shall be distributed to the landowners\nin proportion to the original assessments.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=25-901","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"141ba048857372e034c20a65a4143dce43cc203d2ad2313a826cc2018a2db872","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-25-809","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-25-902"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
