Code, Local Government § 26–1102","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) Except as provided in paragraph (2) of this subsection, a person\nmay not obstruct a drainage project constructed under this title in a manner that\nimpedes the free flow of water.\n(2) A person may place a properly constructed swinging water gate\nacross a ditch on a fence line to prevent livestock from trespassing through the ditch.\n(b) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on\nconviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $500 for each offense.\n(c) Each fine collected under this section shall be paid to the county tax\ncollector and credited to the drainage association that suffered the damage.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=26-1102","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"bfb413113462f454687592d045ff61ee0a75da08d3b357c5edcd27afc81525bd","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-26-1101","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-27-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
