Code, Local Government § 27–706","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) The board of drainage commissioners may impose an assessment\non the landowner benefited by the construction of the drainage project to maintain\nthe drainage project.\n(2) The assessment under this section shall be imposed in the same\nmanner and in the same proportion as the original assessment under this subtitle, in\nan amount not to exceed 25% of the original assessment.\n(3) The board of drainage commissioners shall use the money that is\ncollected to repair and maintain the drainage project.\n(b) (1) The board of drainage commissioners shall impose the cost of any\nrepairs on a landowner if the repair is necessary because of:\n(i) an act or negligence of the landowner or an agent or\nemployee of the landowner; or\n(ii) the cattle, hogs, or other livestock of the landowner or of an\nagent or employee of the landowner.\n(2) The cost of repairs as provided under paragraph (1) of this\nsubsection shall be collected by suit instituted by the board of drainage\ncommissioners.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=27-706","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"1d7749e1e4f60606fb070ab202a5345d8e9cb2511ad3905fac0f76c46e4a3d07","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-27-705","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-27-707"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
