Code, Local Government § 28–103","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to subsection (c) of this section, the Commission consists of the\nfollowing members:\n(1) one member from the Democratic Central Committee of Allegany\nCounty;\n(2) one member from the Republican Central Committee of Allegany\nCounty;\n(3) one member from the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce;\n(4) one member from the Allegany–Garrett Counties Fire and Rescue\nAssociation, from Allegany County;\n(5) one member from the Allegany County Farm Bureau;\n(6) one member from the League of Women Voters of Allegany\nCounty; and\n(7) one member from the Western Maryland Central Labor Council.\n(b) On or before July 14, 2016, and on or before July 14 each fourth year\nthereafter, the County Commissioners of Allegany County shall request that each\norganization listed in subsection (a) of this section recommend an appointee to the\ncounty commissioners on or before the following August 1.\n(c) (1) The County Commissioners of Allegany County shall appoint the\nindividual recommended by each organization listed in subsection (a) of this section.\n(2) If any organization fails to make a recommendation to the county\ncommissioners on or before August 1, the county commissioners shall appoint a\nsubstitute public member to the Commission to serve through the following January\n30.\n(3) A member of the Commission appointed under paragraph (1) or\n(2) of this subsection may not be:\n(i) an Allegany County official or employee; or\n(ii) an official or employee of any office studied by the\nCommission.\n(4) The county commissioners shall make their appointments to the\nCommission final on or before September 29 of the year of the recommendations\nunder subsection (b) of this section.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=28-103","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"152cde5487b55bb4ace380a47eac43543878813a449805bffbc12185511fd5da","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-28-102","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-28-104"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
