Code, Local Government § 28–203","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to subsections (b) and (d) of this section, the Commission\nconsists of the following members:\n(1) one member from the Democratic Central Committee of\nWashington County;\n(2) one member from the Republican Central Committee of\nWashington County;\n(3) one member from the Washington County Chamber of Commerce;\n(4) one member from the Washington County Farm Bureau;\n(5) one member from the League of Women Voters of Washington\nCounty;\n(6) one member from the Western Maryland Central Labor Council;\n(7) one member from the Cumberland Valley Associated Builders\nand Contractors, Inc.;\n(8) one member from the Joint Veterans Council of Washington\nCounty; and\n(9) one at–large member who is a resident selected by the County\nCommissioners of Washington County.\n(b) Each member shall be a registered voter of Washington County who in\nthe previous 4 years has voted in at least two elections, at least one of which was in\nthe gubernatorial election year.\n(c) On or before March 31, 2016, and on or before March 31 each fourth year\nthereafter, the County Commissioners of Washington County shall request that each\norganization listed in subsection (a) of this section recommend an appointee to the\ncounty commissioners on or before the following May 15.\n(d) (1) The County Commissioners of Washington County shall appoint\nthe individual recommended by each organization listed in subsection (a) of this\nsection.\n(2) If an organization fails to make a recommendation to the county\ncommissioners on or before June 1, the members who have been appointed to the\nCommission shall meet, solicit prospective members from the public, and select by\nmajority vote a qualified substitute public member to the Commission to serve\nthrough the following December 1.\n(3) A member of the Commission may not be an elected official or an\nemployee of an official whose salary the Commission studies.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=28-203","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"30ef67c5a85991f85eb031d4110657a48d43a0dc650902349afbfb125da9676f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-28-202","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-28-204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
