Code, Local Government § 29–106","heading":"","body":"(a) The Commission may:\n(1) provide advice and assistance related to the filing and processing\nof grievances and complaints of discrimination with the appropriate federal and State\nagencies;\n(2) educate the community on the rights and responsibilities of\npeople relating to housing, employment, and public accommodations;\n(3) advocate for the removal of all vestiges of discrimination; and\n(4) assist in nonbinding alternative dispute resolution.\n(b) The Commission shall:\n(1) use its influence and persuasion to direct the efforts of the\ncommunity to solving problems that many times are the basic reasons for racial\ntensions; and\n(2) encourage and ensure equal treatment of all people, without\nregard to race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, age, marital status, or\nphysical or mental disability, in compliance with federal, State, and local laws and\nregulations related to housing, employment, and public accommodations.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=29-106","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"1e39e23df079e9559bf29d6e0d5e12fcb59e7d80297e3c12cc2e8ec50d305f1f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-29-105","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-29-107"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
