Code, Local Government § 33–102","heading":"","body":"// EFFECTIVE UNTIL SEPTEMBER 30, 2030 PER CHAPTER 657 OF 2025 //\n(a) There is an Anne Arundel County Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park\nAdvisory Committee.\n(b) The Committee consists of the following members:\n(1) one member representing the Office of the Governor, appointed\nby the Governor;\n(2) the Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Community\nInitiatives, or the Executive Director’s designee;\n(3) the Executive Director of the Maryland Commission on African\nAmerican History and Culture, or the Executive Director’s designee;\n(4) one member of the Senate of Maryland who represents the district\nin which the Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park is located, appointed by the\nPresident of the Senate;\n(5) two members of the House of Delegates who represent the district\nin which the Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park is located, appointed by the\nSpeaker of the House;\n(6) one member of the Anne Arundel County Council who represents\nthe district in which the Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park is located;\n(7) one representative of Bowie State University, designated by the\nPresident of Bowie State University;\n(8) the Anne Arundel County Budget Officer, or the Budget Officer’s\ndesignee;\n(9) the Director of the Anne Arundel County Office of Equity and\nHuman Rights, or the Director’s designee; and\n(10) seven members appointed by the County Executive of Anne\nArundel County with at least:\n(i) one representative with expertise in cultural history;\n(ii) one representative with expertise in recreation and parks;\n(iii) one representative with expertise in infrastructure;\n(iv) one representative with expertise in health and wellness;\n(v) one representative who represents the communities\nadjacent to the Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park; and\n(vi) one representative with expertise in civil rights.\n(c) The Chief Administrative Officer of Anne Arundel County shall serve as\nan ex officio nonvoting member of the Committee.\n(d) The County Executive of Anne Arundel County shall designate the chair\nof the Committee.\n(e) The Committee shall:\n(1) act as an advisory body and provide advice on the planning\nprocess, including community involvement, for Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park\nto:\n(i) the Anne Arundel County Delegation to the General\nAssembly;\n(ii) the County Executive of Anne Arundel County;\n(iii) the County Council of Anne Arundel County; and\n(iv) the departments of the Anne Arundel County government;\n(2) make recommendations regarding the development of the\nCrownsville Hospital Memorial Park that take into account:\n(i) the Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park Master Plan;\n(ii) the cultural history of the site;\n(iii) the health and wellness of the residents of Anne Arundel\nCounty;\n(iv) the recreation and park needs of the residents of Anne\nArundel County; and\n(v) the infrastructure necessary to support items (i) through\n(iv) of this item;\n(3) collect and compile public input on the development of the\nCrownsville Hospital Memorial Park; and\n(4) make recommendations to ensure that the Crownsville Hospital\nMemorial Park is a place that:\n(i) focuses on mental and physical health and well–being;\n(ii) is intentional and equitable in providing access to the\nproperty;\n(iii) is truthful about the history of Crownsville Hospital;\n(iv) preserves and celebrates the natural beauty of the\nproperty;\n(v) protects and restores the best of the property’s built\nenvironment; and\n(vi) cultivates educational opportunities.\n(f) On or before February 1 each year, the Committee shall report its\nachievements, findings, and recommendations to the County Executive of Anne\nArundel County, the County Council of Anne Arundel County, and, in accordance\nwith § 2–1257 of the State Government Article, the Anne Arundel County Delegation\nto the General Assembly.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=33-102","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"cfe4a0845d426fb1004f7c35bfa447e10b8b910394d7e271a6d63c7d9a81d976","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-33-101","next":"us-md/md.-code-natural-resources-1-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
