Code, Local Government § 4–403","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to subsection (b) of this section, an annexation resolution may\nbe introduced in the legislative body of the municipality in accordance with:\n(1) the requirements and practices applicable to its legislative\nenactments; and\n(2) the requirements of § 4–303(a) of this title.\n(b) Before an annexation resolution is introduced, the legislative body shall\nobtain consent from:\n(1) at least 25% of the registered voters who are residents in the area\nto be annexed; and\n(2) the owners of at least 25% of the assessed valuation of the real\nproperty in the area to be annexed.\n(c) The annexation resolution:\n(1) shall describe by a survey of courses and distances the exact area\nto be annexed;\n(2) may also describe by landmarks and other well–known terms the\nexact area to be annexed; and\n(3) shall contain a complete and detailed description of the conditions\nand circumstances that apply to:\n(i) the change in boundaries; and\n(ii) the residents and property in the area to be annexed.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=4-403","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"f6bb106f36cf57055ba6a96a18ae76c12d39131f5f2e951c6ea839a87bf395dc","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-4-402","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-4-404"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
