Code, Local Government § 4–508","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) A merging municipality shall transfer its assets and liabilities to\nthe unified municipality.\n(2) The merging municipality shall transfer the assets and liabilities\nby legal instruments separate from the unified charter and resolution.\n(3) The invalidity of a legal instrument that transfers or disposes of\nany property of a merging municipality does not affect the validity of the unified\ncharter.\n(b) Within 60 days after the unified charter is adopted, the legislative bodies\nof the merging municipalities jointly shall send the information concerning the\ncharter to the Department of Legislative Services as provided in § 4–109 of this title.\n(c) The exact text of the unified charter adopted under this subtitle,\nincluding any amendments, shall be included in any edition or codification of the\ncharter.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=4-508","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"6c2ff4cc377b02d9cedbba1cb297c5458b522372156aebbddd31bcbab6931e08","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-4-507","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-4-509"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
