Code, Local Government § 9–113","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “chief executive officer” means:\n(1) the mayor of Baltimore City; or\n(2) the County Executive of Montgomery County.\n(b) This section applies only to Baltimore City and Montgomery County.\n(c) Except as provided in subsection (d) of this section, a candidate for chief\nexecutive officer shall be a resident of the county for at least 6 months before the\ngeneral election for chief executive officer.\n(d) If the charter of a county contains a durational residency requirement\nthat is longer than 6 months, the longer durational residency requirement shall be\nretained if the governing body of the county reaffirms the requirement by enactment\nof an ordinance no later than 4 weeks before the filing deadline specified in § 5–303(a)\nof the Election Law Article.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=9-113","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"07f7ffc3c6df1229fd2e4db8260700ae59d9e694b3b20195b9fbf7a3fd657d05","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-9-112","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-9-114"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
