Code, Local Government § 9–514","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) A person denied a right conferred by this subtitle may file a\ncomplaint for mandamus, injunction, or other appropriate remedy in circuit court.\n(2) A plaintiff need not allege or prove an irreparable injury or an\ninjury different from the public at large.\n(b) A complaint under this section shall be filed within 1 year after the date\nof the alleged violation.\n(c) The court shall conduct a hearing within 7 days after a complaint is\nfiled.\n(d) A violation of this subtitle is deemed an injury to the public at large.\n(e) (1) The court shall issue an order that:\n(i) grants or denies all or part of the relief sought;\n(ii) awards appropriate attorney’s fees or costs; and\n(iii) determines the effect of the action alleged to be in violation\nof this subtitle.\n(2) The court may void an action taken at a public agency meeting in\nviolation of this subtitle.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=9-514","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"16fa405d02878acedaecc1a7584e6942bcb0de110b8c4910d78f52f16c4a49a9","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-9-513","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-9-515"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
