Code, Natural Resources § 8–726.1","heading":"","body":"(a) This section does not:\n(1) Apply to the improvement of harbors; or\n(2) Affect any act of the General Assembly relating to the construction of a wharf or to the rights of a riparian owner.\n(b) Ballast, ashes, filth, earth, oysters, or oyster shells may not be deposited from a vessel to a site:\n(1) In the Chesapeake Bay above Sandy Point;\n(2) In Herring Bay; or\n(3) Below the high water mark in a river, creek, or harbor in the State.\n(c) A person in command or having charge of a vessel that violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine of not less than $20 and not exceeding $150.\n(d) The Natural Resources Police Force shall enforce this section.","path":["Article - Natural Resources"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gnr\u0026section=8-726.1","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:08Z","sha256":"8064684f80d92788dc5250a279b7cceecedde383170dbf0eb68f446343ea6b95","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-natural-resources-8-726","next":"us-md/md.-code-natural-resources-8-727"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
