Code, Natural Resources § 8–738.3","heading":"","body":"(a) This section applies to the following:\n(1) A vessel required to be registered with the Department under this subtitle;\n(2) A vessel required to have a valid number awarded in accordance with a federal law or a federally approved numbering system of another state; and\n(3) A vessel from a foreign country using the waters of the State.\n(b) A person may not operate or attempt to operate a vessel on the waters of the State while the person is prohibited from operating a vessel on the waters of the State under § 8–738(e)(3)(i) of this subtitle.\n(c) Notwithstanding any other provision of this title, a person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction:\n(1) For a first offense, shall be subject to a fine of not more than $1,000 or imprisonment for not more than 1 year or both;\n(2) For a second offense, shall be subject to a fine of not more than $2,000 or imprisonment for not more than 2 years or both; and\n(3) For a third or subsequent offense, shall be subject to a fine of not more than $3,000 or imprisonment for not more than 3 years or both.","path":["Article - Natural Resources"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gnr\u0026section=8-738.3","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:08Z","sha256":"20948713a759321a96c64fe07d036959825a8d21ca84aaafd9166b99690d6f2e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-natural-resources-8-738.2","next":"us-md/md.-code-natural-resources-8-739"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
