Code, Natural Resources § 8–744","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “for–hire water carrier” means a vessel used to accept or solicit passengers for:\n(1) Transportation between points along State waters in exchange for remuneration; and\n(2) Sightseeing and touring in State waters in exchange for remuneration.\n(b) Before the Department registers a for–hire water carrier, the Department shall require the for–hire water carrier to show, to the Department’s satisfaction, that the water carrier holds an insurance policy or a bond in an amount that is required of a motor vehicle carrying the same number of passengers in accordance with COMAR 20.95.01.18.\n(c) The Department may adopt regulations to implement this section.","path":["Article - Natural Resources"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gnr\u0026section=8-744","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:08Z","sha256":"0e57358648c1322f5eda99b9ba38593ce02d1ed88a0ce390d309d358032fd41c","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-natural-resources-8-743","next":"us-md/md.-code-natural-resources-8-1001"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
