Code, Public Safety § 12–836","heading":"","body":"(a) An elevator contractor may not engage in the business of elevator installation, alteration, repair, or service work unless the work of the elevator contractor is covered by:\n(1) general liability insurance in the amount of at least $1,000,000; and\n(2) property damage insurance in the amount of at least $500,000.\n(b) An applicant for an elevator contractor license shall submit proof of the insurance required under subsection (a) of this section to the Board with the license application.\n(c) Unless a licensee meets the insurance requirements of this section, the Board may not renew the license of a licensee to whom the insurance requirements of this section apply.\n(d) A licensed elevator contractor shall give the Board notice of the cancellation of insurance at least 10 days before the effective date of the cancellation.","path":["Article - Public Safety"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gps\u0026section=12-836","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:18Z","sha256":"c905bd0723ae429d049cc91b611629c9181566cfbd816460d42b37980b6de85e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-12-835","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-12-837"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
