Code, Public Safety § 13A–1039","heading":"","body":"(a) A person subject to this title shall be punished as a court–martial may direct if the person:\n(1) is the driver of a vehicle that is involved in an accident that results in personal injury or property damage; and\n(2) wrongfully leaves the scene of the accident:\n(i) without providing assistance to an injured person; or\n(ii) without providing personal identification to others involved in the accident or to appropriate authorities.\n(b) A person subject to this title shall be punished as a court–martial may direct if the person:\n(1) is a passenger in a vehicle that is involved in an accident that results in personal injury or property damage;\n(2) is the superior commissioned or noncommissioned officer of the driver of the vehicle or is the commander of the vehicle; and\n(3) wrongfully and unlawfully orders, causes, or permits the driver to leave the scene of the accident:\n(i) without providing assistance to an injured person; or\n(ii) without providing personal identification to others involved in the accident or to appropriate authorities.","path":["Article - Public Safety"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gps\u0026section=13A-1039","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:18Z","sha256":"e39a681c4576f08ac9d1829f0e3429c36772e0bf09172800dbea1801eb9af75f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-13a-1038","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-13a-1040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
