{"data":{"id":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-14-1204","jurisdiction":"us-md","citation":"Md. Code, Public Safety § 14–1204","heading":"","body":"(a) With support from appropriate State agencies and State entities, the Office of Resilience shall coordinate strategies and improve interagency coordination to meet the following goals:\n(1) ensuring rapid State support following emergencies;\n(2) minimizing flooding in residential areas;\n(3) promoting climate–informed investments;\n(4) informing and educating the public on emergency safety and risks;\n(5) building neighborhood resiliency;\n(6) improving coastal resilience;\n(7) adapting agricultural practices to respond to increasing precipitation, temperatures, and soil salinization; and\n(8) reducing the potential impact of other hazards identified in the Maryland Hazard Mitigation Plan.\n(b) The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science shall coordinate with the Office of Resilience to:\n(1) establish a resilience baseline for the State;\n(2) develop a statewide resilience assessment to support local government benchmarking for use in a statewide resilience tracker to help identify investment needs;\n(3) develop indicators to monitor the effectiveness of resilience efforts and establish future goals; and\n(4) produce an economic analysis and policy benchmark report to include:\n(i) an examination of the financial impact of extreme weather or other hazardous events in the State;\n(ii) an estimate of necessary resources needed to prepare for and reduce the adverse effects of hazardous events in the State;\n(iii) the identification of available funding sources, including those used by other states; and\n(iv) a comparison of State policies and resilience efforts with those of other vulnerable states, including Florida, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, and Virginia.","path":["Article - Public Safety"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gps\u0026section=14-1204","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:18Z","sha256":"11b64b8496c89a6a5a5a0461c6ba587961dcb10de7774df4cc8ceb1f7e848b92","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-14-1203","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-14-1301"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
