Code, Public Safety § 14–8A–01","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Governing body” means:\n(1) the county executive and county council of a charter county with a county executive;\n(2) the county council of a charter county with no county executive;\n(3) the board of county commissioners of a county; or\n(4) the mayor and council, by whatever name known, of a municipal corporation.\n(c) “National Capital Region” means the area defined under § 2674(f)(2) of Title 10 of the United States Code, including those counties with a border abutting that area and any municipal corporations in those counties.","path":["Article - Public Safety"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gps\u0026section=14-8A-01","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:18Z","sha256":"1f6b871848a7ed075c760673980b1c72f94de71679feb71f2d3087b885ec1c6d","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-14-803","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-14-8a-02"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
