Code, Public Safety § 2–418","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) Except as otherwise provided in paragraphs (2) and (3) of this subsection, a police employee who resigns from the Department for any reason may not be reappointed.\n(2) A police employee who resigns to enter the uniformed services may be reappointed.\n(3) By rule, the Secretary may reappoint a police employee who resigned in good standing if the individual meets the requirements then applicable for initial appointment.\n(4) An individual may not be reappointed to a rank higher than the rank that the individual previously held as a police employee.\n(b) An employee who is terminated from the Department may not be reappointed.","path":["Article - Public Safety"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gps\u0026section=2-418","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:18Z","sha256":"cedb37c021b45cc6281cb0bd57e700878b2be8a82686d1d444f75e63bad7b134","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-2-417","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-2-501"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
