Code, Public Safety § 3–533","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “law enforcement agency” has the meaning stated in § 3–201 of this title.\n(b) If a law enforcement agency is notified by a medical examiner under § 5–309(d) of the Health – General Article, the law enforcement agency:\n(1) shall reopen or reinvestigate an investigation involving the death of a victim whose cause or manner of death was amended or corrected to be undetermined or homicide; and\n(2) may not close a case that was reopened or reinvestigated under item (1) of this subsection until at least 20 years after the law enforcement agency was notified.","path":["Article - Public Safety"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gps\u0026section=3-533","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:18Z","sha256":"cca4ce445d40a90f34969e3de1ef9644cf643412d7fbe81a047bf3bd52a11869","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-3-532","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-3-534"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
