Code, Public Safety § 5–137","heading":"","body":"(a) A person who seeks to own a regulated firearm and purchases the regulated firearm from an out-of-state federally licensed gun importer, manufacturer, or dealer shall:\n(1) have the federally licensed importer, manufacturer, or dealer ship the regulated firearm to a licensee for processing; and\n(2) comply with §§ 5-103, 5-104, 5-117 through 5-129, and 5-136 of this subtitle.\n(b) If a person purchases a regulated firearm for use within the scope of the person’s official duties, the Secretary may waive the 7–day waiting period under § 5–124 of this subtitle for:\n(1) law enforcement personnel of any unit of the federal government;\n(2) members of the armed forces or the National Guard; or\n(3) law enforcement personnel of the State or any local agency in the State.","path":["Article - Public Safety"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gps\u0026section=5-137","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:18Z","sha256":"6d84fbc300a649c7dd683b29721efd8184aed8b6ce93726e1955857b7bcbbf69","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-5-136","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-5-138"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
