Code, Public Safety § 5–144","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as otherwise provided in this subtitle, a dealer or other person may not:\n(1) knowingly participate in the illegal sale, rental, transfer, purchase, possession, or receipt of a regulated firearm in violation of this subtitle; or\n(2) knowingly violate § 5–142 of this subtitle.\n(b) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 5 years or a fine not exceeding $10,000 or both.\n(c) Each violation of this section is a separate crime.","path":["Article - Public Safety"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gps\u0026section=5-144","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:18Z","sha256":"0322ef832475c3a3a0086368ecdd17b23e506f19445177af9350044fa5c4e3ad","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-5-143","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-5-145"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
