Code, Public Safety § 5–404","heading":"","body":"(a) There is a Handgun Roster Board in the Department of State Police.\n(b) (1) The Board consists of 11 members.\n(2) Of the 11 members of the Board:\n(i) one shall be the Secretary as an ex officio member;\n(ii) ten shall be appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate; and\n(iii) all shall be Maryland residents.\n(3) Of the ten appointed members of the Board:\n(i) one shall be a representative of the Association of Chiefs of Police;\n(ii) one shall be a representative of the Maryland State’s Attorneys’ Association;\n(iii) one shall be a handgun dealer, gunsmith, or representative of a handgun manufacturer;\n(iv) one shall be a resident of the State who is a representative of the National Rifle Association or its affiliated State association;\n(v) one shall be a representative of an organization that advocates against handgun violence; and\n(vi) five shall be public members, two of whom shall be mechanical or electrical engineers.\n(c) The term of an appointed member is 4 years.\n(d) The Secretary shall serve as chairman.\n(e) The Board shall meet at the request of the chairman or of a majority of the members.","path":["Article - Public Safety"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gps\u0026section=5-404","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:18Z","sha256":"1b3cf8e339fc08f2d1fd35ef3d54d0309c4bc7bfb7dff682c746996afa733eb6","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-5-403","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-5-405"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
