Code, Public Safety § 5–610","heading":"","body":"(a) A person who fails to comply with the provisions of an interim extreme risk protective order, a temporary extreme risk protective order, or a final extreme risk protective order under this subtitle is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to:\n(1) for a first offense, a fine not exceeding $1,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 90 days or both; and\n(2) for a second or subsequent offense, a fine not exceeding $2,500 or imprisonment not exceeding 1 year or both.\n(b) A law enforcement officer shall arrest with or without a warrant and take into custody a person who the officer has probable cause to believe is in violation of an interim, temporary, or final extreme risk protective order in effect at the time of the violation.","path":["Article - Public Safety"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gps\u0026section=5-610","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:18Z","sha256":"6ea5c82611ee1a674f842c8ce0f62e52f08ae66d5d30634053208988e88ab6f8","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-5-609","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-5-701"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
