Code, Public Safety § 5–801","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Center” means the Maryland State Police Gun Center.\n(c) “Crime firearm” means a firearm that is:\n(1) used in the commission of a crime of violence, as defined in § 5–101 of this title; or\n(2) recovered by a law enforcement agency in connection with illegal firearm possession, transportation, or transfer.\n(d) “Department” means the Department of State Police.\n(e) “Federally licensed firearms dealer” means a person licensed by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to deal in firearms.\n(f) “Federally licensed firearms importer” means a person licensed by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to import firearms.\n(g) “Final protective order” has the meaning stated in § 4–501 of the Family Law Article.\n(h) “Law enforcement agency” has the meaning stated in § 3–201 of this article.","path":["Article - Public Safety"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gps\u0026section=5-801","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:18Z","sha256":"6d9cbe471cfdd38080ea83d3ef2e11e3ae9b933cf8387ce4f880978980e1b53f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-5-706","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-safety-5-802"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
