Code, Public Utilities § 7–604","heading":"","body":"(a) On or before July 1, 2001, the Commission shall adopt consumer protection orders or regulations for gas suppliers, energy salespersons, and energy vendors that:\n(1) protect consumers from discriminatory, unfair, deceptive, and anticompetitive acts and practices in the marketing, selling, or distributing of natural gas;\n(2) provide for contracting, enrollment, and billing practices and procedures; and\n(3) the Commission considers necessary to protect the consumer.\n(b) In adopting orders and regulations under this section, unless the Commission determines that the circumstances do not require consistency, the Commission shall:\n(1) provide customers with protections consistent with applicable protections provided to retail electric customers; and\n(2) impose appropriate requirements on gas suppliers, energy salespersons, and energy vendors that are consistent with applicable requirements imposed on electricity suppliers, energy salespersons, and energy vendors.","path":["Article - Public Utilities"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gpu\u0026section=7-604","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:28Z","sha256":"fce1f5ae93ee13a4cb363471f28d06d6eeeb994bdc5ddde221d0fc80291a6e9c","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-utilities-7-603.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-utilities-7-604.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
