Code, Public Utilities § 9–310","heading":"","body":"(a) A railroad that crosses or connects with another railroad may use the track or roadway of the other railroad, for up to 5 miles, to move locomotives, cars, and tonnage.\n(b) The rate of tolls that a railroad charges under this section for locomotives, cars, and tonnage may not exceed the rate per ton per mile, or proportionate part of a mile used, that the railroad charges for through freight per ton per mile.\n(c) A railroad company that violates this section is liable to an aggrieved party in a civil action for an amount not less than $500 and not exceeding $1,000 for each day of noncompliance.","path":["Article - Public Utilities"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gpu\u0026section=9-310","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:28Z","sha256":"599e5ce6001e5ae8c33abd75e76369f7f5ade061372361c5f2150fffe87d4616","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-utilities-9-309","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-utilities-9-311"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
