Code, Public Utilities § 9–403","heading":"","body":"(a) If safe to install, reasonably practicable, and justified by the volume of business, a railroad company, on the application of a shipper, shall construct, maintain, and operate on reasonable terms:\n(1) a switch connection or a connection with a lateral line of railroad or private sidetrack owned by the shipper; or\n(2) a sidetrack and switch connection for the shipper on property owned by the railroad company.\n(b) The Commission shall regulate installation, maintenance, and compensation under this section.\n(c) A railroad company may terminate connections that it provides under this section if the Commission determines that the required conditions are no longer satisfied.","path":["Article - Public Utilities"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gpu\u0026section=9-403","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:28Z","sha256":"d402cc07bee915381133d22f27608c233a120f91ad2f431893373d8b579c75b3","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-public-utilities-9-402","next":"us-md/md.-code-public-utilities-10-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
