Code, Real Property § 8–801","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Department” means the State Department of Assessments and Taxation.\n(c) “Ground lease” means a residential lease or sublease for a term of years renewable forever subject to the payment of a periodic ground rent.\n(d) (1) “Ground lease holder” means the holder of the reversionary interest under a ground lease.\n(2) “Ground lease holder” includes an agent of the ground lease holder.\n(e) “Ground rent” means a rent issuing out of, or collectible in connection with, the reversionary interest under a ground lease.\n(f) “Leasehold interest” means the tenancy in real property created under a ground lease.\n(g) “Leasehold tenant” means the holder of the leasehold interest under a ground lease.","path":["Article - Real Property"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=grp\u0026section=8-801","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:38Z","sha256":"19c3d5b2eafc39826babe3cf376fdfd074b400e42f2f27583490051415a05008","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-real-property-8-710","next":"us-md/md.-code-real-property-8-801.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
