Code, State Finance and Procurement § 14–201","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Disabled veteran” means a veteran who has been certified by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as having a service–connected disability regardless of the disability rating.\n(c) “Disabled veteran–owned small business” means a small business that is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more individuals who are disabled veterans.\n(d) “Small business” means a business that meets the qualifications established under § 14–203 of this subtitle.\n(e) “Small business preference” means a purchase request for which bids are invited from a list of qualified bidders that includes small businesses.\n(f) “Veteran” means a veteran as defined in 38 U.S.C. § 101(2) who is domiciled in Maryland.\n(g) “Veteran–owned small business” means a small business that is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more individuals who are veterans.","path":["Article - State Finance and Procurement"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsf\u0026section=14-201","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:48Z","sha256":"8e6178af04b494aa56a565c253674efb339b0c50eeac5a9436a43248fbd870be","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-finance-and-procurement-14-110","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-finance-and-procurement-14-202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
