Code, State Finance and Procurement § 17–101","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Payment security” means security to guarantee payment for labor and materials, including leased equipment, under a contract for construction.\n(c) “Performance security” means security to guarantee the performance of a contract for construction.\n(d) “Public body” means:\n(1) the State;\n(2) a county, municipal corporation, or other political subdivision;\n(3) a public instrumentality; or\n(4) any governmental unit authorized to award a contract.\n(e) (1) “Supplier” means a person who supplies labor or materials.\n(2) “Supplier” includes a lessor of equipment to the extent of the fair rental value of the equipment.","path":["Article - State Finance and Procurement"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsf\u0026section=17-101","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:48Z","sha256":"079594c8bf024143380804310e25f006e17892a8589a59cc7d67bdf0c6b7f0ac","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-finance-and-procurement-16-312","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-finance-and-procurement-17-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
