Code, State Finance and Procurement § 17–215","heading":"","body":"(a) Each contractor and subcontractor subject to this subtitle shall pay each employee not less than the prevailing wage rate required under this subtitle:\n(1) unconditionally;\n(2) without subsequent rebate; and\n(3) except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, without deductions for:\n(i) food;\n(ii) sleeping accommodations;\n(iii) transportation;\n(iv) use of small tools; or\n(v) any other thing of any kind.\n(b) A contractor or subcontractor may make deductions that are:\n(1) required by law;\n(2) required or allowed by a collective bargaining agreement between a bona fide labor organization and the contractor or subcontractor; or\n(3) contained in a written agreement between an employee and an employer undertaken at the beginning of employment, if the agreement:\n(i) concerns food, sleeping accommodations, or other similar items;\n(ii) is submitted by the employer to the public body awarding the public work contract; and\n(iii) is approved by the public body as fair and reasonable.","path":["Article - State Finance and Procurement"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsf\u0026section=17-215","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:48Z","sha256":"e588420996050efc0c88e0131d8e6cf381c8f21aa5eaa9df844f2f51feafa826","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-finance-and-procurement-17-214","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-finance-and-procurement-17-216"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
