Code, State Finance and Procurement § 17–225","heading":"","body":"(a) A person may not:\n(1) violate the wage provisions of a public work contract;\n(2) allow or require an employee to work for less than the applicable prevailing wage rate;\n(3) except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, ask an employee or prospective employee to give anything of value to that person or any other person on a statement, representation, or understanding that failure to comply with the request or demand will prevent the employee from procuring or retaining employment; or\n(4) directly or indirectly, authorize a violation of this subtitle by any other person.\n(b) Subsection (a) of this section does not apply to any agent of a collective bargaining organization acting in collection of sums as allowed by the National Labor Relations Act.","path":["Article - State Finance and Procurement"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsf\u0026section=17-225","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:48Z","sha256":"5410addca928f04772be6e9a06c5a560fb1eedbd820954ef281807a3144b9951","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-finance-and-procurement-17-224","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-finance-and-procurement-17-226"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
