Code, State Finance and Procurement § 2–602","heading":"","body":"(a) The Treasurer shall deposit in a box or vault as provided in subsection (b) of this section:\n(1) all of the physical securities that the State owns; and\n(2) all of the physical securities that, by State law, the Treasurer holds, in trust or otherwise, for a corporation or individual.\n(b) (1) With the approval of the Board of Public Works, the Treasurer shall procure a box or vault.\n(2) The box or vault shall be located in the offices of the Treasurer.\n(3) Each box or vault in which securities are kept shall be built so that 2 different keys are needed to gain access to the securities.\n(4) The Comptroller and the Treasurer each shall have 1 of these keys.\n(5) Access to a box or vault in which physical securities are kept under this section shall be permitted only:\n(i) when the Governor, the Comptroller, the Chief Deputy Comptroller, or a Deputy Comptroller accompanies the Treasurer; or\n(ii) if access is needed and the Treasurer cannot be present:\n1. when the Governor, the Comptroller, the Chief Deputy Comptroller, or a Deputy Comptroller accompanies the Chief Deputy Treasurer; or\n2. when the Governor, the Comptroller, or the Chief Deputy Comptroller accompanies a Deputy Treasurer.\n(c) The Treasurer shall determine which physical securities are deposited or held in each box or vault.","path":["Article - State Finance and Procurement"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsf\u0026section=2-602","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:48Z","sha256":"ef8a62ae53c60fc1304c1c7b0de74e48d00bca7531b9a67379e685a873bdcc7f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-finance-and-procurement-2-601","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-finance-and-procurement-2-602.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
