Code, State Finance and Procurement § 5A–324","heading":"","body":"(a) There is a Maryland Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.\n(b) (1) The Council consists of seven voting members.\n(2) The ex officio members are:\n(i) the Secretary of General Services;\n(ii) the Secretary of Housing and Community Development;\n(iii) the Secretary of Planning; and\n(iv) the Secretary of Transportation.\n(3) The Governor shall appoint the other three members, of whom:\n(i) two shall be individuals with expertise in architecture, history, archaeology, or another appropriate discipline that relates to historic preservation; and\n(ii) one shall be a member of the general public.\n(4) An ex officio member may designate a deputy secretary from the member’s department to act in the member’s absence.\n(c) The Secretary of Planning serves as chair.\n(d) (1) The term of an appointed member is 4 years.\n(2) The terms of the appointed members are staggered as required by the terms provided for members of the Council on October 1, 2005.\n(3) At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is appointed and qualifies.\n(4) A member who is appointed after a term has begun serves only for the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.\n(e) (1) A majority of the authorized membership of the Council is a quorum.\n(2) The Council shall set the times and places of its meetings.\n(f) A member of the Council:\n(1) may not receive compensation as a member; but\n(2) is entitled to reimbursement for expenses under the Standard State Travel Regulations, as provided in the State budget.\n(g) The Director of the Trust is the secretary and staff to the Council.","path":["Article - State Finance and Procurement"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsf\u0026section=5A-324","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:48Z","sha256":"d958e9f2c5d95685622a22ef400d0960dcc76b12a15850a28bda85dadd955ab6","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-finance-and-procurement-5a-323","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-finance-and-procurement-5a-325"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
