Code, State Government § 10–1001","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “unit” means an officer or other entity in the Executive Branch.\n(b) Unless otherwise provided by statute or regulation, a unit of State government authorized by law to impose a civil penalty up to a specific dollar amount for violation of any statute or regulation shall consider the following in setting the amount of the penalty:\n(1) the severity of the violation for which the penalty is to be assessed;\n(2) the good faith of the violator; and\n(3) any history of prior violations.","path":["Article - State Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsg\u0026section=10-1001","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:58Z","sha256":"174f46b5f551233b0503964d9469ae4fcbc9e64a8b193468714f6f6286a0146f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-10-904","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-10-1101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
