Code, State Government § 18–211","heading":"","body":"(a) A notarial act performed under the authority and in the jurisdiction of a federally recognized Indian tribe has the same effect under the laws of this State as if performed by a notarial officer of this State, if the act performed in the jurisdiction of the tribe is performed by:\n(1) a notary public of the tribe;\n(2) a judge, clerk, or deputy clerk of a court of the tribe; or\n(3) any other individual authorized by the laws of the tribe to perform the notarial act.\n(b) The signature and title of an individual performing a notarial act under the authority and in the jurisdiction of a federally recognized Indian tribe are prima facie evidence that:\n(1) the signature is genuine; and\n(2) the individual holds the designated title.\n(c) The signature and title of a notarial officer listed in subsection (a)(1) or (2) of this section conclusively establish the authority of the notarial officer to perform the notarial act.","path":["Article - State Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsg\u0026section=18-211","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:58Z","sha256":"0458e839d59d6adb0ed8d268eb464d5ac5ab087040e5fbb514d2bc19af186e46","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-18-210","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-18-212"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
