Code, State Government § 18–221","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as provided in § 18–203(b) of this subtitle, the failure of a notarial officer to perform a duty or meet a requirement specified in this subtitle does not invalidate a notarial act performed by the notarial officer.\n(b) The validity of a notarial act under this subtitle does not prevent an aggrieved person from seeking:\n(1) to invalidate the record or transaction that is the subject of the notarial act under another law; or\n(2) other remedies allowed under federal or State law.\n(c) This section does not validate a purported notarial act performed by an individual who does not have the authority to perform notarial acts.","path":["Article - State Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsg\u0026section=18-221","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:58Z","sha256":"17090a9f0b16121818702cae89f4e091ef3d1c22e11ed4ed0cf8f1aa06f43ccf","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-18-220","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-18-222"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
