Code, State Government § 9–1603","heading":"","body":"(a) The Office is headed by a Chief Administrative Law Judge appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate.\n(b) The Chief Administrative Law Judge shall:\n(1) be appointed for a term of 6 years;\n(2) devote full time to the duties of the Office; and\n(3) be eligible for reappointment.\n(c) The Chief Administrative Law Judge shall:\n(1) receive the salary provided in the State budget;\n(2) be admitted to practice law in the State; and\n(3) have the powers and duties specified in this subtitle.\n(d) The Chief Administrative Law Judge may employ a staff in accordance with the State budget.","path":["Article - State Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsg\u0026section=9-1603","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:58Z","sha256":"d3bf623dde65780f695abb55e32e8bd18e2bf3ea3657eb69ef848555ce6ccc58","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-9-1602","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-9-1604"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
