Code, State Government § 9–301","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Governor’s Subcabinet” means the Governor’s Subcabinet on Socioeconomic Procurement Participation.\n(c) (1) “Minority person” means:\n(i) an individual who has been deprived of the opportunity to develop and keep a competitive position in the economy because of a social or economic disadvantage that arises from cultural, racial, or other similar causes; or\n(ii) a sheltered workshop for individuals with disabilities.\n(2) “Minority person” includes:\n(i) an Aleut;\n(ii) an American Indian;\n(iii) a Black;\n(iv) an Eskimo;\n(v) a Hispanic;\n(vi) an Oriental;\n(vii) a Puerto Rican; or\n(viii) a woman.\n(d) “Office” means the Office of Small, Minority, and Women Business Affairs.\n(e) “Special Secretary” means the Special Secretary for the Office of Small, Minority, and Women Business Affairs.","path":["Article - State Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsg\u0026section=9-301","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:58Z","sha256":"7a1dd385d38c5b6045eb9844b81cd751add9492c8d318baab0c0a2f6cb471f6a","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-9-206","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-9-303.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
