Code, State Government § 9.5–312","heading":"","body":"(a) In a matter within the scope of this subtitle, a person may not:\n(1) knowingly and willfully falsify or conceal a material fact by trick, scheme, or device;\n(2) make a false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation; or\n(3) make or use a false writing or document knowing the writing or document contains a false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or entry.\n(b) Except as otherwise provided by law, a person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 6 months or a fine not exceeding $1,000 or both.","path":["Article - State Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsg\u0026section=9.5-312","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:58Z","sha256":"34ae0f62d0034eb885c2b170e5d6dc69a37bebd4aa127c7327db9cc113221f84","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-9.5-311","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-9.5-501"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
