Code, State Government § 9.5–507","heading":"","body":"The Commission shall:\n(1) assess the challenges facing LGBTQIA+ communities;\n(2) collect data across State agencies on:\n(i) the implementation of policies that are inclusive of LGBTQIA+ identities; and\n(ii) complaints alleging discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity;\n(3) study and establish best practices for inclusion of LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities;\n(4) inform the Executive and Legislative branches of State government of issues concerning LGBTQIA+ persons;\n(5) offer testimony on issues concerning LGBTQIA+ persons before legislative and administrative bodies;\n(6) act as a clearinghouse for activities to avoid duplication of efforts;\n(7) create surveys and appoint advisory committees in the fields of:\n(i) education;\n(ii) social sciences;\n(iii) labor and employment laws and policies;\n(iv) law enforcement;\n(v) health and safety;\n(vi) new and expanded services;\n(vii) legal rights;\n(viii) family relations;\n(ix) human relations; and\n(x) volunteer services; and\n(8) publish, in accordance with § 2–1257 of this article, an annual report, and any other material the Commission considers necessary, that includes recommendations on policies for LGBTQIA+ adults and youth that work to end discriminatory practices in the State.","path":["Article - State Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsg\u0026section=9.5-507","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:00:58Z","sha256":"e23191e65b44f1324c6f30616af71afe751009cbd5de7dcf6f5ab990d6700fdd","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-9.5-506","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-government-9.5-508"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
