Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 11–207","heading":"","body":"(a) An employee being laid off may displace another employee who has the least seniority points:\n(1) in the same class or job series as the employee being laid off; or\n(2) in any other class in which the laid-off employee previously held satisfactory nonprobationary status within the 36 months immediately prior to the effective date of the layoff.\n(b) Subsection (a) of this section shall apply:\n(1) first to the employee’s current appointing authority regardless of geographical area;\n(2) if the provisions in paragraph (1) of this subsection are not available, to the employee’s current principal unit; or\n(3) a secretary or head of a State principal unit may limit the displacement within the principal unit to one or more of the established geographical areas as prescribed by the Secretary.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=11-207","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"dda6f9481d8f6d940705408b624b8c931e529e71a9ad9d8d9e098955a13ef9b6","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-11-206","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-11-208"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
