Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 21–706","heading":"","body":"(a) This section applies to a public employee who is not a retiree.\n(b) Subject to subsection (c) of this section, a public employee may submit an application for retirement.\n(c) If a public employee is eligible to apply for a retirement allowance, a public employee’s application for retirement benefits:\n(1) shall be considered submitted on the first day of the month after it is properly completed and submitted to the State Retirement Agency; and\n(2) may not be processed by the State Retirement Agency unless and until the final adjudication of the charge that does not result in conviction.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=21-706","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"7c8619e3e2aa09a06a5325998d3331b96bdb12beb2e13f1e8454481138618984","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-21-705","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-21-707"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
