Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 26–302","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to subsections (b), (c), and (d) of this section, a member is entitled to eligibility service for periods of employment while a member of the Law Enforcement Officers’ Pension System.\n(b) The Board of Trustees may not allow more than 1 year of service credit for a calendar year.\n(c) (1) If a member completes at least 500 hours of employment while a member in any fiscal year, the member is entitled to 1 year of eligibility service.\n(2) Except in the first and last fiscal years, a member may not receive any eligibility service for a fiscal year in which the member completes less than 500 hours of employment while a member.\n(3) In the first and last fiscal years, if a member completes less than 500 hours of employment while a member, the Board of Trustees shall prorate the eligibility service based on the number of hours worked.\n(d) If a member who is subject to the Law Enforcement Officers’ Modified Pension Benefit under Subtitle 2, Part II of this title completes less than 500 hours of employment while a member, the Board of Trustees shall prorate the member’s eligibility service based on the number of hours worked.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=26-302","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"932f1b5e9b46ad70d3ed53f809bdf021ed21f7717ead0e162b39a312bcc81d42","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-26-301","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-26-303"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
