Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 27–201","heading":"","body":"(a) The following individuals are members of the Judges’ Retirement System:\n(1) a judge of the Supreme Court of Maryland, Appellate Court of Maryland, circuit court of a county, or District Court of Maryland;\n(2) a member of the State Workers’ Compensation Commission; and\n(3) a magistrate in chancery or magistrate in juvenile causes who:\n(i) was appointed by the circuit court of a county on or before June 30, 1989; and\n(ii) serves full time as a magistrate.\n(b) A former judge who is temporarily assigned to sit in a court of the State under the authority of Article IV, § 3A of the Maryland Constitution is not a member.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=27-201","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"a62ccaa89d045a23bfa7c2fb1ae9128998de07a832d100252fa243a28e157da7","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-27-103","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-27-202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
