Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 29–304","heading":"","body":"An individual shall have immediate vesting rights on taking office in the State system in which the individual is a member if the individual is the:\n(1) secretary of a principal department of the Executive Branch of State government as provided under § 8–201 of the State Government Article;\n(2) Executive Director of the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Cannabis Commission;\n(3) Adjutant General of the Military Department;\n(4) Chair of the State Board of Contract Appeals;\n(5) Chair of the Public Service Commission;\n(6) Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Commission;\n(7) Chief Administrative Law Judge of the Office of Administrative Hearings;\n(8) Director of the Health Care Alternative Dispute Resolution Office;\n(9) Director of the Maryland Energy Administration;\n(10) Director of the Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing;\n(11) Director of the Office of Homeland Security;\n(12) Director of the Office of Performance Improvement;\n(13) Director of the State Department of Assessments and Taxation;\n(14) Director of the State Lottery and Gaming Control Agency;\n(15) Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Community and Crime;\n(16) Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy;\n(17) Executive Director of the State Retirement Agency;\n(18) Insurance Commissioner of the Maryland Insurance Administration;\n(19) Special Secretary of the Office of Small, Minority, and Women Business Affairs;\n(20) Special Secretary of the Governor’s Office for Children;\n(21) State Archivist;\n(22) State Prosecutor of the State Prosecutor’s Office; or\n(23) State Superintendent of Schools.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=29-304","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"4995fe6c2df06860994bb74432b91610f74065eb6167c60b1d113533577c6d6b","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-29-303.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-29-305"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
