Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 30–303","heading":"","body":"(a) An eligible employee shall elect to:\n(1) join a pension or retirement system in accordance with the provisions of this Division II applicable to that system; or\n(2) participate in the program.\n(b) An eligible employee shall:\n(1) make an election under this section in writing; and\n(2) file the election with the Board of Trustees and the employing institution at commencement of employment.\n(c) An eligible employee’s election under this section is a one–time, irrevocable election.\n(d) The effective date of the election shall be the day of commencement of employment.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=30-303","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"39a5b56a4e8962aef02031b24915c3a7f547e41ca95ca064c6e9206f1b3bb7f2","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-30-302","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-30-304"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
