Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 31–301","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Employees’ system” has the meaning stated in § 31–101 of this title.\n(c) “Legislative body” has the meaning stated in § 31–101 of this title.\n(d) “Local pension system” means a retirement or pension system established by the legislative body of an eligible governmental unit that is a qualified plan under § 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code and provides a defined benefit to its participants.\n(e) “State system” has the meaning stated in § 20–101(pp) of this article.\n(f) “Withdrawal date” means the date that a withdrawal by a participating governmental unit from a State system takes effect.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=31-301","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"a2895bc0b1728f660b445c0d4d4bbdc7d72ba92f2532043092d990e9eed9390f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-31-2b-08","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-31-302"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
